from the median

From The Median

standing on wrightson road near independence square in port of spain on a median as cars whiz by on either side of me. memories of doing the same thing near the eiffel tower in paris all those years ago…

performing arches

VA4863

the national academy of performing arts building (napa) in port of spain. This is a tough one to photograph as the lighting is somewhat sporadic. there is always a blue/purple glow about the building. the red/orange in this instance was presumably used for the performance on the following night. There are light towers on the grounds surrounding the building, which i am sure are meant to light the exterior space but i have yet to see them turned on. according to a security guard i spoke with, they only get turned on when an event is taking place…

city from the hill

City From The Hill

another find… port of spain in all its glory at dusk from lady chancellor road. a cool drive along a narrow winding road into a pretty exclusive residential area. near the top are magnificent views of the savannah and the downtown core beyond. the road itself is frequented by walkers, joggers, and cyclists – depending on the time of day you do have to take care while driving for all the people going about their exercise routines.

boulders and trees

Boulders And Trees

the arizona snowbowl ski resort is located on the san francisco peaks just north of flagstaff. A lazy walk on some alpine meadows yielded this photograph of boulders and trees on this late afternoon in may – the warm sunset glow lighting them up.

overlooking the canyon

Overlooking The Canyon

truly a dream come true, visiting the grand canyon… not off the photographic bucket list yet though – i was largely disappointed with my grand canyon photographs. i shall make it back there one day!

located on the south rim, here you have desert view watchtower (aka indian watchtower at desert view) overlooking the canyon on a late afternoon.

solitude 1 & 2

Solitude 1

Solitude 2

from home base in flagstaff, arizona I set out to explore the grand canyon – a dream-come-true for me. en-route, i came across this wonderful scene depicting the epitome of solitude. the homestead was the only one around for as far as the eye could see! you have it here from two vantage points.
