turtle rock

Turtle Rock

arches provincial park, located between parsons pond and portland creek on newfoundland’s west coast, features ‘the arches’ as a centrepiece: a three-arch (previously four-arch) rock formation naturally formed by tidal action. in addition, there are other formations on the site like the one photographed here.

though there does not seem to be official names for each individual formation, this one resembles a turtle to this observer, hence the title i have chosen… (incidentally, i have contacted newfoundland tourism to see if the various rock formations have been named – apparently, they have not).

this photograph can be found in the following gallery: waterscapes
