autumn falls 1 & 2

VC1604

VC1594

invariably as one drives along the queen elizabeth way (qew) towards niagara falls in southern ontario, road signs indicating ball’s falls conservation area can be seen. now living in st. catharines, i finally had a chance to visit the area… the twenty mile creek flows through and plummets over both the upper falls and the lower falls – the latter photographed here from two vantage points across the creek from each other in all its autumn splendour.

ball’s falls, it turns out, is actually a hamlet “… lovingly maintained to its early mid 19th century industrial … atmosphere featuring the original ball family home, an operating flour mill, a lime kiln, a church, black smith shop, carriage shed and more.” – niagara peninsula conservation authority

ride over the whirlpool

Ride Over The Whirlpoolthe whirlpool aero car is an attraction on the canadian side of the niagara river. the cable car rides for about 1 kilometer above the niagara gorge at the naturally-occurring whirlpool (because of the change in the river’s direction). here is the suspended antique cable car photographed in the area’s autumn splendour!
