the niagara parkway with building lights glowing at dusk. i was crossing the street and looked to my left on the median as i saw cars travelling on either side of me. thought it would make an interesting shot and voila!

from across the lake (colour and b&w)

From Across The Lake (Colour)

From Across The Lake (B&W)

the jokes are no more. at least that is what i can tell… long the butt of many jokes, buffalo has made an amazing comeback! with its close proximity to home in st. catharines, i’ve been able to go on a few visits to explore ‘the queen city’. granted, i haven’t gone into full explorer mode yet, but what i have seen is a city on the rise… revitalized, chic and trendy neighbourhoods such as elmwood village and allentown are wonderful to visit and explore. the downtown is clean and the architecture is a feast for the eyes!

in any event, this is the buffalo skyline as photographed from across the lake in fort erie, ontario. admittedly it took a few attempts to get a good vantage point, but i think i found one! 😉

canal lights

vc2314

standing on the division street bridge in welland, ontario, i had the opportunity to photograph the canada day fireworks over the welland canal – bridge 13 this past summer (2016). this bridge in the heart of the city’s centre crosses a now-abandoned portion of the canal known as the welland recreational waterway.

stone to crystal

Stone To Crystal

no longer living in toronto, i did have the opportunity to stay at the posh park hyatt across the street from the royal ontario museum (rom) this past summer. a notoriously early riser, i let my body alarm clock wake me as usual; by the time i awoke at around 5:15am, daybreak had already begun. i hurried out to the streets and set up to shoot the latest incarnation of the rom buildings. on the left is the original facade from the early 1900’s while the right depicts the new, ultra-modern entrance to the museum known as ‘the crystal’.

the moon was indeed out and a pick-up truck stopped for a traffic light along bloor street. the cloudless sky was that early morning blue and it reflected off of the crystal’s glass panels.
