the lone cypress 1
surely battered by wind and waves; exposed to the elements from its granite pedestal and secured by half-hidden cables, this is the iconic lone cypress of pebble beach in the monterey peninsula of central california.
a rainy and foggy morning for my return trip to los angeles, i took the 17-mile drive, while it was still dark, to start the day. i arrived at the lone cypress during a foggy, but thankfully, dry dawn and stood by the magnificent tree perched on the coastline.
this is the first in a series of four (4) photographs of this oft-photographed iconic landmark.

golden gate bridge
photographed from one of the lookouts in the marin headlands, this is the world famous, and probably one of the world’s most iconic landmarks: the golden gate bridge. it connects san francisco to the headlands over the golden gate strait. here it is on a sunny may afternoon, once the clouds and fog from earlier in the day had dissipated.

through the arch
a gloriously hot august summer day in paris. relaxing by dipping feet in the cool fountain pools of the jardins du trocadero. forbidden as i recall. well, when in paris… the eiffel tower in full view with the école militaire visible behind it through the base arch facing me. the hustle and bustle around the landmark: people walking, traffic stopped on the pont d’iéna, tour bus in the distance… what a nice day!
