the temple’s courtyard
photographed from within the jewish quarter of the old city of jerusalem in the early evening, here is the western wall, the plaza or courtyard and the dome of the rock shrine beyond.

ancient corridor revisited
the more things change, the more they stay the same… here we are back in jerusalem’s old jewish quarter, some 23 years after i first photographed this scene. my first rendition of this place was photographed on slide film during my last visit to israel. this one was shot with my dslr. owing to a less-than-optimal scan of my slide, this version has better clarity, but aside from that, not much has changed in this ancient space…

ancient corridor
heat and israel go hand in hand; especially in the summertime. after exploring the shuk (the mostly open-air markets) and the kotel (the western wall) in jerusalem, it was indeed time to get some relief from the heat and sun! while exploring the ancient maze of walkways in the jewish quarter, lucky for me, i came upon this series of archways. it’s amazing to think that i was standing where others had, literally thousands of years before… what an amazing place, full of history!
