downriver (colour and b&w)
the lower falls trail of letchworth state park essentially begins at the ‘127 steps’ that lead you lower into the genessee river gorge. once at the bottom of the stairway, the trail splits. to the right will take you right to the falls (as per the previous image post: the lower falls) while to the left will take you towards a bridge and the river itself. this is a downriver view at some point along the ‘left’ trail.

arch rock at dawn
the next morning of my overnight stay in twenty-nine palms, i ventured out again into the joshua tree national park to see and capture the famous ‘arch rock’. the arch rock trail is found nestled in the white tank campground and scattered about are rock formations in all shapes and sizes.

boulder on the trail
my very first excursion in st. john’s, newfoundland was a visit to signal hill national historic site of canada. i spent a few hours there hiking the north head trail from the top (at the parking lot) to north head at the entrance of st. john’s harbour. it was mid afternoon when i got started; so the light was not ideal for photography. the trail affords fantastic sights of the atlantic ocean – thankfully i was not too late to take in the few icebergs dotting the horizon. also great views of fort amherst and the st. john’s city harbour can be seen from various vantage points.
i elected not to do the entire 1.7km trail, but rather returned back to the top from north head, basically the same way i came. i spotted this boulder and knew there was a photograph there somewhere… the structure in the upper left of the frame is the cabot tower.

overlooking the canyon
truly a dream come true, visiting the grand canyon… not off the photographic bucket list yet though – i was largely disappointed with my grand canyon photographs. i shall make it back there one day!
located on the south rim, here you have desert view watchtower (aka indian watchtower at desert view) overlooking the canyon on a late afternoon.

big arizona sky
further along highway 89 and further into the painted desert… you’ve heard of those big arizona skies, right?

clouds over the port
clouds, clouds and more clouds! shortly upon my arrival to trinidad and tobago, this was the first shot i wanted to get… but every time i went, there were scarcely any clouds in the sky. that was in february 2013 when i came for a visit. the dry season was still going strong and for 2 weeks i did not see a single drop of rain – just magnificent blue skies!
upon my return in july, when i had finally made the long anticipated move to t&t, the wet season was in full swing and indeed there were more clouds in the sky and we indeed saw rain on an almost daily basis – kind of like you would get in south florida, for those of you familiar with those short bouts of rain…
in any event, here we have a panoramic of greater port of spain, from the lady young lookout above the city.
