autumn falls 1 & 2
invariably as one drives along the queen elizabeth way (qew) towards niagara falls in southern ontario, road signs indicating ball’s falls conservation area can be seen. now living in st. catharines, i finally had a chance to visit the area… the twenty mile creek flows through and plummets over both the upper falls and the lower falls – the latter photographed here from two vantage points across the creek from each other in all its autumn splendour.
ball’s falls, it turns out, is actually a hamlet “… lovingly maintained to its early mid 19th century industrial … atmosphere featuring the original ball family home, an operating flour mill, a lime kiln, a church, black smith shop, carriage shed and more.” – niagara peninsula conservation authority
these photographs can be found in the following gallery: waterscapes
