LA Night
thanks again to adrian bellani, who took the time out to drive me around town. this was my second attempt at photographing the los angeles skyline from the griffith observatory grounds. we tried a couple of nights earlier but the entire landscape was fogged out. on this night… success – and a full moon to boot!!

from the median
standing on wrightson road near independence square in port of spain on a median as cars whiz by on either side of me. memories of doing the same thing near the eiffel tower in paris all those years ago…

performing arches
the national academy of performing arts building (napa) in port of spain. This is a tough one to photograph as the lighting is somewhat sporadic. there is always a blue/purple glow about the building. the red/orange in this instance was presumably used for the performance on the following night. There are light towers on the grounds surrounding the building, which i am sure are meant to light the exterior space but i have yet to see them turned on. according to a security guard i spoke with, they only get turned on when an event is taking place…

templo de debod
the templo de debod is an ancient egyptian monument dating back to the 4th century bc that was transplanted to madrid, spain in the early 1970’s. originally built in the nile valley of egypt, it was given to spain when the aswan dam was built, threatening the monument.
here it is photographed under a full moon on a lovely august summer night. unfortunately, the pools surrounding the monument were not filled during my visit. it would have been nice to have those reflections off the pools! maybe next time… 😉

lights
in the city of light: one of the world’s most recognizable and oft-photographed monuments in the world…. how to do it justice? well, let’s go in the middle of the road (admittedly, there was a painted median) and see what we can get… here you have my take on the eiffel tower at night, under a half-moon with cars whizzing by on either side of me!
