life jackets
a piece of toronto nostalgia. still in re-explore-the-city-mode; that first summer of my return to my hometown from vancouver (after a 13+ year absence).
i made my way downtown to the toronto islands ferry terminal to reacquaint myself with the city skyline on a beautiful august summer night. as luck would have it, it was like a ghost town this particular evening. the ferry itself was no different… very few people aboard. as i made my way in, i was taken aback by a scene that i had not witnessed in over 25 years! all those orange life jackets stored above… i set up my gear and voila!

a february scene
exploring the 49 mile scenic drive in san francisco. this, the view from baker beach looking toward the iconic golden gate bridge on a somewhat moody overcast february day.

looking down
a 3-month european tour started out in london, england. i remember going into st. paul’s cathedral and of course being in awe of the interior. the most fascinating part of the visit was the whispering gallery and being able to hear conversations from clear across the dome. then it was up to the golden gallery, from where this photograph was taken.

moonrise silhouette 1, 2 & 3
in keeping with the previous lunar post, here is a series of moon shots from the diego martin valley in trinidad and tobago once again. i set up in the driveway, at the front of the house and waited for the moon to make its appearance, silhouetting the trees on the mountain. unlike the previous post, these images did not require too much editing – pretty well straight out of the camera.

moon over the valley
a captivating moon is always fun to photograph and i have done so many times over the years. this one however is special… this scene was photographed on one of our first nights in trinidad. i had not gotten used to my surroundings yet, but I was indeed aware that we lived in the diego martin valley just north west of the capital city, port-of-spain.
we are fortunate that our door and front windows lend views to some pretty imposing mountains. on this night, a full moon with wafting clouds lends a mystical, magical and perhaps even eerie feel to our view.
a fair amount of editing was needed to pull this one off. some will call it trickery; i much prefer artistic license…
