northern coastline
the available light at sundown once again provides for a longer exposure of the coastline as seen from rosh hanikra. as one heads south along the number 4 road, there are two small cities, nahariya and acre (akko), as well as a couple of villages before reaching haifa, israel’s third largest city after jerusalem and tel aviv. the extension of city lights that you see jutting to the right towards the centre of the frame are indeed those of the haifa metropolitan area.

the fishermen
the attraction at rosh hanikra visited and photographed, we took the cable car back up to where we came from. the beauty of this place never ends. the views to the west for a sunset or indeed south towards metropolitan haifa are gorgeous! with the sun below the horizon already, here is a shot of a small segment of the coastline directly to the south of rosh hanikra. the available light allows for a long exposure to highlight the seafoam cause by breaking waves from the mediterranean sea. the two fellows don’t seem to be bothered one bit…

the cliff
this is the white chalk cliff that houses the grottoes or sea caves at rosh hanikra in the western galillee where the mediterranean sea meets the israeli coast at the lebanese border. if one follows the normal flow of pedestrian traffic through the tunnels, this views is towards the end of the attraction. thankfully, there was some nice light towards the end of day as the sun was beginning to settle into the horizon.

cavern walls
still in the tunnels of the grottoes at rosh hanikra, here is a view from one of the openings in one of those tunnels that give way to cavern walls and a southern horizon’s view at sundown.

sundown from the market
returning from icacos along southern main road, the sun was starting its descent in the late afternoon. i was looking for a place to set up my gear and ended up at the otaheite bay fish market. there were many people milling about when i parked the car. i made my way to one of the docks and started shooting…
