under the tube

it’s not often that you see a tubular cloud formation. thankfully, i was at the right place at the right time a few weeks ago while scoping out a sunset from the shores of lake ontario at the town of lincoln. it is amazing that less than an hour after its appearance, it quite simply vanished…

from across the lake

broke out the big lens and gave this shot another try – previous attempts had not yielded any usable results… earlier in the day, we had spent a couple of hours at the beach in st. catharines and noted how clear it was out. with that in mind, we made our way to the shores of lake ontario in lincoln, ontario that evening. the view and sky certainly did not disappoint as the toronto skyline was still remarkably clear from across the lake.

lakeshore sunset 1

a sunset on the shores of lake ontario at the town of lincoln in the niagara region of southern ontario. close to home, i have taken a renewed interest in sunsets and sunrises and this spot is as good as any! i will continue coming back here, as it is close to home, to see what mother nature can offer as the months and seasons change.

lighthouse morning

Lighthouse Morninghaving returned to canada and chosen st. catharines as our new hometown, it was time to start exploring a little… here is the marina pier at sunrise, in port dalhousie, a community within the city of st. catharines. the lighthouse in the distance (extreme left of the frame) is located at the end of the harbour walkway trail and is known as the outer range lighthouse while the closer one is referred to as the inner lighthouse.

sunshine coast morning 2

Sunshine Coast Morning 2

renowned for it’s spectacular scenery, the sunshine coast of british columbia is in effect sandwiched between the strait of georgia and the coast mountains. from british columbia’s lower mainland (greater vancouver area), it is usually accessed via ferry from west vancouver to langdale, bc.

a notoriously early riser, i awoke to a beautiful sunrise visible from the large bay windows of the waterfront cottage i had rented in the tiny village of halfmoon bay. i made my way to the cove, the water calm as the scene gently revealed itself on this chilly spring morning…
